Deer hunters taking part in Saturday’s opening of the firearm season reported successful hunts in most parts of Kanabec County.

Temperatures in the 60s mixed with sun helped spur one of the largest turnouts of hunters in recent years, and one registration site in northern Kanabec County reported more than 400 deer were brought in on Saturday alone.
