ISANTI COUNTY — A 19-year-old Isanti man has been charged with rape— a charge that could land him in prison for up to 45 years.

Allen Frank Poitra was charged on Nov. 11 with felony criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and felony criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. The first charge could net him 30 years in prison and/or a $40,000 fine and the second, 15 years in prison and/or a $30,000 fine.

On Oct. 27, a Mora Police officer was dispatched by Kanabec County that a 16-year-old female was at Kanabec County Hospital stating that she had been raped the night before.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged rape occurred in the Dalbo area of Isanti County at a friend’s house.

The victim allegedly said she went to bed early and awoke to Poitra having sex with her, She told investigators that she tried to scream and fight Poitra, but he choked her and told her to quite screaming.

Poitra’s bail was set at $15,000 with conditions or $30,000 without conditions. His next appearance in court is Nov. 23 at 1:30 p.m.
