The Annual Kanabec County Fair will fill the fairgrounds from Wednesday, July 24 to Sunday, July 28 with a variety of activities.
The events that draw the largest crowds are always the grandstand events; this year they will feature the popular Red Neck Races on Thursday and Friday, Truck Pull on Saturday and Tractor Pull on Sunday.
The fair is organized by the Kanabec County Agriculture Society. Vice President Mary Besser said, “Everything is going great. We are excited for the fair.”
While the grandstand events are much the same as last year, some recent changes to the facilities will mean more to the horses than anyone else. The horse barn recently had its lean-to rebuilt and raised. While the roof was high enough for people to walk under —some of the horses had to duck. The remodel has fixed this. Another improvement includes the addition of lights to the horse arena.
The Mora Civic Center has also had new, brighter LED lighting installed which illuminate the indoor events like the book fair, Friday night square dancing and Saturday presentations by musicians Tim Hadler and Catrina Cambell.
The event relies on many volunteers to pull off as well as sponsors. Anyone interested in sponsoring fair activities can contact Mary Besser at 612-328-6385.
