Temperatures were down but spirits were up this weekend Feb. 9-10 as the city of Mora hosted the annual Vasaloppet USA ski races.
Skier registrations for the event were also up despite the cold temperatures. The races have been on a slow but steady re-bound from a dip in registrations. Vasaloppet race organizers attributed the dip to the inconsistent snow conditions; and credited their snow-making equipment and “snow farmer” volunteers for bringing registrations back up.
About 820 racers finished the Saturday races, plus an additional 95 for Sunday events.
