By citizen request, the Mora City Council will review its ordinances regarding taprooms and recreational vehicles in the city.
The council considered a request from Beer Club Brewing, located at 854 Forest Avenue East. The popular microbrewery and taproom is open to the public Fridays and Saturdays and features a food truck on many dates. Beer Club requested that they be allowed to open similar hours on Sundays.
The council reviewed the city’s current restaurant ordinances: specifically whether the taproom should provide its own food service, and the number of seats required. The city tabled the request and will take it up again at the July meeting.
RV use in the city
In May, the Council agreed to review a sample ordinance provided by the League of Minnesota Cities regarding recreational vehicle (RVs): motorized golf carts, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), utility task vehicles (UTVs) and mini-trucks.
Mora’s current city code addresses use of snowmobiles, bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, roller blades and roller skis in the city, but not RVs.
The June discussion turned to whether the city should require permits for RV use. Any such change may require a public hearing.
The next Council meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 21 at Mora City Hall.
