Alma Ida Hemness died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at her home in rural Brook Park. She was 76 years old.
She was born Oct. 14, 1943, in Portland, Oregon, to Ken and Alma (McClintock) Stone. She grew up in Pine River where she met and was united in marriage to Lee Arne Hemness on Oct. 20, 1962. The couple moved to the Mora area in 1969. During her working years she was employed at Kanabec State Bank and Jere Bartz Accounting.
She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mora, enjoyed spending time with her friends and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Lee; children, Shelly (Mike) Wallen of Big Lake and Kraig (Ginny) Hemness of Schafer; sister, Thelma Filibeck of Huntsville, Alabama; brother, Jess McClintock of Backus; grandchildren, Kevin Hemness of Raleigh, North Carolina, Andy (Leah) Wallen of Becker and Emily Wallen of Big Lake. She was great-grandmother to Norah and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are handled by Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home. Condolences may be posted at www.aifuneralhome.com
