Catherine Anne (Mork) Kordahl died on Friday, June 28, 2019. She was 96 years old.
She was born on April 20, 1923 near Mora to Edgar and Julia Mork. She had one brother, Clifford, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Mora High School in 1941. Because of World War II, immediately upon graduation she started working at Twin Cities Ordinance Plant inspecting cartridges and then telescope lenses at Honeywell. She began attending Augsburg College in 1945 where she met her future husband, Axel Kordahl, at the Lutheran Free Church Seminary. They were united in marriage on Oct. 12, 1951 and served in several Lutheran parishes in North Dakota and Minnesota. In 1981, they retired and moved to Mora where they joined Calvary Lutheran Church. Her husband died in April 2006, and she continued to live in Mora until she moved to Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile in early 2016.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and crafts. Although her vision was poor as she aged, she kept busy at Fair Meadow with church, exercising, reading groups and attending special musical events. She was a wonderful, gracious host, and she always welcomed people into her home. As a true extrovert, she was happiest surrounded by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Axel, and also by her brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Edna, and her parents.
She is survived by daughters; Gloria (Paul) Kaste of Fertile and Joy Ridgley of Minneapolis. Gloria and Joy’s birth mother; Alice, and their brother, John, are waiting in heaven. She is also survived by daughters; Rebecca Kordahl (Robin Boulton) of Madison, Wisconsin, Judith (James Fitzsimmons) Kordahl of Alexandria, Virginia, and son; Joel (Judy) Kordahl of Duluth, grandchildren; Gretchen (Rawleigh) White of Powell Butte, Oregon, Garth (Colleen) Kaste of Fertile, Karl (Ann) Kaste of Apple Valley, Berit Fitzsimmons of San Francisco, California, Jackson Fitzsimmons of Alexandria, Virginia, Alex Kordahl of Fargo, North Dakota and Erik Kordahl of Duluth.
