Daniel Charles Haley, of rural Mora, died suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, in the presence of his wife, Pauleen Haley. He was 75 years old.
He was born to Charles and Helen (Watson) Haley on Nov. 23, 1943, in Red Wing. After a short time in Red Wing, the family lived in Northern Minnesota until 1955 when they moved to Braham. He graduated from Braham High School in 1962. Following high school, he enlisted into the United States Air Force where he served four years, most of which in Germany.
On July 30, 1966, he was united in marriage to Pauleen Whiteford. After spending two years in the metro area, they purchased a farm in Brunswick township where they raised their three children. He worked for the telephone company for over 30 years as a telephone splicer and installer. In retirement, he assisted his wife in owning and operating H&R block in Mora, Cambridge and Princeton until 2014. After selling the businesses, he continued to enjoy his hobbies of hunting, fishing, horse racing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. There wasn’t a stranger in the world to him; he talked to anyone and everyone. His sense of humor and giant hugs will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Haley; mother, Helen Haley Neigum; stepfather, Martin Neigum; and brothers, Tom, Jim and Ted.
He is survived by his wife, Polly; children, Patrick (Danyelle) Haley of Elk River, Kristeen Sanders of Mora and Timothy Haley of Mora; grandchildren and their children Jordan Haley, Madison Haley (fiancé Colin Newberg), MyKenna Haley, Megan (Grant) and Charley Wisniewski, Morgan Sanders, Maren Sanders, Mya Jo Rae Andrews, Jacob Haley and Jared Haley; siblings, Pat (Sharon) Haley of Lakeville, Terry (LeAnn) Haley of Phoenix, Arizona, Mike Haley of Stanchfield, Kitty Haley of Braham and Kevin Haley of Newport; sisters-in-law, Georgia Haley of Eau Claire Wisconsin, Sharon Haley of Redding California and Loretta Haley of Newport.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Braham with Fr. Don Wagner officiating. Music was provided by Joni Nelson and Kitty Haley. Casket bearers were Megan Wisniewski, Jordan Haley, Madison Haley, Mykenna Haley, Morgan Sanders, Maren Sanders, Mya Andrews, Jacob Haley and Jared Haley. Honorary Casket bearer was Charley Wisniewski. Burial at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Braham.
