Walen

Eunice Jean Walen, of Mora, died peacefully  on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. She was 81 years old.

She was born Sept. 23, 1938, in Worthington to Clark and Hilda (Dolischall) Connors. During her early childhood, the family lived in the western United States (Washington, Idaho and California) eventually settling first in southern Minnesota and later in the Twin Cities area.

She attended high school in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Donald Walen on Oct. 23, 1959. The young couple settled in Mora and were blessed with three sons. For 30 years she was a dedicated CNA at Sunshine Villa in Mora. She then worked for 10 years at Grand Casino Hinckley with her husband.

She enjoyed spending time with  extended family, country music, traveling, casino trips, game shows and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. A member of Zion Lutheran in Mora for 60 years, her unshakeable faith sustained her and was an inspiration to those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Connors; twin sister, Bunny Noble; husband, Donald; and son, Jeff.

She is survived by sons, Steve (Miriam) Walen, Circle Pines and Randy (Joanne) Walen, Sauk Rapids; brother, Leroy (Jan) Connors, Yelm, Washington; brothers-in-law, Warner Noble, St. Cloud, John (Terri) Walen, Ponsford and Duane (Deanna) Walen, Callaway; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A private inurnment will be held in St. Cloud in the spring.
