Ina Vollegraf Fetzek of Grasston died peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Mora hospital, surrounded by her five children. She was 92 years old.

She was the principal of Glenwood Hills ATP, a specialist school for at-risk youth, and taught in the Robbinsdale school district in the 1960s and 70s. She earned her degrees from the University of Minnesota in art and special education.

Born in 1926 to parents from Rotterdam, Holland who left Europe during WWI, she and her three sisters grew up in St. Paul. She met her husband Donald Fetzek at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and they raised their family in Crystal.

The couple purchased a farm in Comfort Township, Kanabec County in 1971, and they retired near Henriette in the late 1990s. A lover of theater (particularly Shakespeare), opera and orchestra, they kept a connection to the Cities but eventually preferred the peace, beauty and community of Kanabec County, where she happily lived out her days at home with wit and grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; daughter-in-law, Nancy; sisters, Marie (Erwin) Holmes, Johanna (Med) Tanqueray and Nel (Rudy) Prow.

She is survived by her children, David (Bonnie), Peter, Nancy, Michael and Steven; stepbrother, Jim Vollegraaf; grandchildren, Sara, Shiloh, Gabe, Jesse, Jon, Joshua, Jacklyn and Joe; great- grandchildren, Lillian, Ian, Dahlia, Cora, Cecilia, Lupin and Cleo.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mora. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.  Arrangements are by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral of Mora.  Condolences may be posted at www.aifuneralhome.com.
