“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” John 10:27-28
Our dearly loved Janie passed into eternity with her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, after an intense battle with cancer. She was 81 years old.
She loved the simple life, beginning in Mora where she was honored as the homecoming queen, enjoyed cheerleading and horses, but most of all being with her friends and family. After graduating in 1956, she joined God’s Invasion Army and began a lifetime of evangelistic activities that would take her around the country and into the lives of many people as she shared her passion for Christ and life itself as the faithful wife of David Collin, an Air Force sergeant, for the next 20 years.
She often worked as an administrative assistant for both public and private offices once returning to Mora after retirement from the Air Force, and also in Connecticut for 17 years while her three children, Donita (King), Brenda (Patterson) and Troy Collin were married and started families of their own.
Upon retiring herself, she and her husband returned to live in Chaska each year to be near family but were especially blessed to have become “snowbirds” to Palm Springs area of California where she again brought her enthusiastic love of life into the community of Sky Valley.
Her grandchildren, Jaclyn King, Collin and Alexis Patterson were especially close to Nana and each enjoyed growing up in her loving and often ‘spunky’ care in which they learned to look to Jesus personally, love God’s truth and generously share the joy of living in the present. Her husband had the honor of sharing in a loving and committed marriage of 60 years with Janie, his absolute best friend.
Per her wishes, no services will be held. Private burial will take place at Fort Snelling in a brief military honors ceremony. Anyone interested in sharing a memory of her is warmly invited to send a note to the family which will be shared.
