Meyer

Joyce Marilyn (Erickson) Meyer, of Shakopee, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 2, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family after a long fight with dementia and diabetes. She was 81 years old.

She was born Oct. 12, 1939, on the family farm near Quamba, to Herman and Harriet (Sorenson) Erickson. She graduated high school in Mora in 1957. She was united in marriage to Gary C. Meyer on Jan. 25, 1958, in Quamba.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Stanley (Joyce) Erickson. 

She is survived by her husband, Gary; sister, Jeanne (Phil) Halvorson of Mora; children, Vickie  (Dennis) Tjaden of Jordan, Connie Creamer of Chaska, Sherrill Kemper of Staples and Brenda (Paul) Proskey of Louisville, Colorado; grandchildren, Kristina (Lyle) Gutzke, Dana (Ray) Mattern, Jonathan (Tracy) Kemper, Rebecca (John) Baranick, Rachel Tjaden (Brandon Wellman), Noah Proskey, Jonathan (Kirsten) Proskey; great-grandchildren, Raymond Mattern, Meghan Mattern, Ryan Baranick, Owen Baranick, Ethan Baranick, Logan Kemper, Sophia Kemper, Sammantha Gutzke and Theodore Gutzke; and several nieces, nephews and cousins who were all very important to her.

A private family celebration of life will be held at Valley View Baptist Church, Shakopee, on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020. A public graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
