Larry Allen Boggs died on Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at Walker Methodist Levande in Cambridge. He was 81 years old.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1937, in St. Paul. He was adopted as an infant from Children’s Home Society by parents, Floyd and Regina Boggs.

He attended the Mora schools and graduated in 1955. Shortly thereafter, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Miller) Boggs.  The couple traveled to Augusta, Georgia, where Larry was enlisted in the Army.

In 1957, their first son Mark was born. They returned to Mora, where he took a job with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. Shortly after Mark’s birth, a daughter, Diane, was born, and a few years after, Michael.

During the years of raising children, the family went on many vacations across the U.S. in a camper built by his father. After traveling every summer, it was decided to purchase a place on Mille Lacs Lake, near Malmo.

In retirement, a second home was purchased in Wickenburg, Arizona, where the couple had many memorable years and made many wonderful friends.

He very much enjoyed gardening, planting trees and bushes and landscaping. He was quite proud of developing his blank canvas yards into masterpieces.

He became ill with dementia in 2017 and lived in the memory care unit at Walker Methodist Levande in Cambridge. He enjoyed his time there and the staff truly loved his antics. He became a very kind, old man who enjoyed spending time coloring. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Miller) Boggs; son, Mark Boggs; grandson, Michael Boggs; parents, Floyd and Regina (Lembcke) Boggs; and sisters, Vida Barnacle and Lorraine Feesl.

He is survived by daughter, Diane (Boggs) Porter of Cambridge; son, Michael (Brandy) Boggs of Petersburg, Alaska; grandchildren, Trisha and Derek Porter and Nick and Joseph Boggs; great-grandchildren, Collette, Evan, Audrey and Erica.
