LaVonne Margaret Angstman, of Mora, died on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the St. Clare Living Community in Mora. She was 84 years old.

She was born on May 9, 1935, in Brunswick Township, Wisconsin, to parents Frank Howard and Tressie (Simonson) McMahon. She attended Eau Claire High School, graduating in 1953. Soon after, she was united in marriage to Lyle Ziehme, and in 1955 they were blessed with a son, John.  They divorced, and she moved to Minneapolis where she met and married Kenneth Angstman. They were blessed with two daughters, Bonny in 1957 and Shirley in 1959. The family moved to a farm east of Mora where they began dairy farming. When not milking cows, she also worked at the Cougarville Castle in Quamba as a waitress and bartender and at the Kanabec State Hospital in Mora as a nurse’s aid.

In the late 70’s, she and her husband divorced and sold off the dairy herd. She missed the cows, so in the early 80’s she purchased a new herd. With help from her family, she was able to keep the cows and stay at home until her health made a move to the St. Clare Living Community in Mora necessary.

She was a member of the Kanabec County Agriculture Board, a longtime 4-H leader and an election judge for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. She was a great cook and baker, always ready with a pan of caramel or cinnamon rolls, banana bread or fruitcake and a pot of coffee for family and friends that stopped in for a visit. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shirley (Sylvester) LaDuke; grandson, James; granddaughters, Arianna, Charity and Gabriel; great-grandson, Weston; sister, Lucille Tomjanovich; brothers, Robert, Norman, Roland, Clifford and Larry McMahon.

She is survived by her children, John (Marie) Angstman and Bonny Morris; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gary McMahon and David (Karen) McMahon; sisters, Theresa “Sue” McMahon and Linda (Leland) Wildes; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial graveside service and inurnment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Brook Park Cemetery with Pastor Kirk Knudsen officiating. Arrangements are by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora.  Condolences may be posted at
