Marie Martha Schroeder, of Ogilvie, died on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, at Elim Home in Milaca. She was 83 years old.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1936 to parents, Nicholas and Mabel (Olson) Eischens, in Park Rapids.
On June 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to Albert Schroeder at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Two Inlets, Minnesota. They made their home in Brainerd and were blessed with six children. She was a stay at home mom in charge of a family of eight. She was dedicated to her family and to supporting her husband during every stage. When the family settled into dairy farming in the late 70s, she adjusted to the daily demands and schedule of farm life, which was rarely routine, and never failed to provide the love and comfort that her family needed each day. As her own children grew and left the house, rather than slow down and relax she took on day care and provided care for friends’ and neighbors’ children. Her energy was incredible.
She was an active member of the Catholic churches in her communities throughout her life. She enjoyed baking (mmm...warm caramel rolls), gardening, embroidery and crocheting. She will be remembered for her kindness and her friendship will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; granddaughter, Katie VanderVegt; siblings, Lawrence, Barbara, Leona, Lillian, Jerome and Kenny.
She is survived by her children, Randy (Elaine), Robert, Mary (Mark) VanderVegt, Tom (Shanna), Rhonda (Brian) Downs and Jim (Jaclyn); 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, George Eischens, Sylvester “Buster” (Joan) Eischens, Bernard (Alice) Eischens, Joanne Gitchel and Leroy (Janet) Eischens; plus many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at St. Kathryn’s Catholic Church in Ogilvie. Burial followed at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery at Little Falls. Arrangements were by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora. Condolences may be posted at www.aifuneralhome.com.
