Phillip “Ned” Carlson died on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at his home in Mora. He was 78 years old.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1942 in Grandy, to Phillip and Lorraine (Wurzl) Carlson. He attended Mora High School, and then went on to work various jobs.  He eventually became a stationary engineer working on steam boilers for Burlington Northern Railroad in St. Paul. After about 10 years he went on to work for the Cambridge State Hospital, also working on steam boilers. He continued there for about 25 years, retiring in 2005. In 1965 he was united in marriage to Karen Hogseth.

He loved guns and was a gunsmith. He loved motorcycles, gardening and ice fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Lorraine; and his nephew, Korey Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Molly Carlson; son, Nels Carlson; grandchildren, Max Helmbrecht and Charles Truh; brothers, Richard Carlson and Brett Carlson; sister, Sandra Stone; as well as other relatives and friends.

Per his wishes no services will be held.
