Randy A. Johnson of Mora died on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at his home in rural Mora. He was 66 years old.

He was born in Mora on June 11, 1953, to parents Reiel (Roy) and Irma (Rabe) Johnson. He was the youngest of 15 children. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kroschel.

He grew up in Kroschel. He had a lot of good memories in that area with family and neighbors. They enjoyed the simple life and were very appreciative of everything they had. In his younger years, he rode his bike many, many miles all throughout the area. He graduated from Hinckley High School and spent a lot of time at “the shop” in Sandstone with his brothers back in the day. He worked at Target warehouse with his brother, Stan, for a bit and then started at Barton Sand and Gravel, where he continued to work for 36 years. He loved playing in the big sand box driving his loader and loading trucks. He took great pride in every new loader that he ran, and his loaders were always spotless. He made many life-long friends during those working years and retired in 2009.

He was united in marriage to Kris Sjoberg on Feb. 25, 1995, at Grace Lutheran Church, and they lived east of Mora by Mud Lake since then.

He enjoyed working on small engines. He loved snowmobiles and enjoyed working on and riding vintage snowmobiles. He also loved ATV’s and really found his passion with his side by side. He loved that Polaris General and enjoyed hitting the trails as often as possible. He loved all of the ATV/UTV trips that were taken with friends and enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Webb Lake, Wisconsin. He loved the area and all of the new friends that were made there. He also enjoyed camping.

He and his wife traveled as much as possible. They traveled to many states and made multiple trips to many areas in Mexico. He always loved a “road trip.” Along with these trips, they had a lot of fun together, always keeping busy and doing fun stuff. They loved to get together with friends and family, and he was always joking around and loved practical jokes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Irma; brothers, Chester, Jerry, Stan and Ron; sisters, Marlys Blum, Lois Lees, Glennis Grace and Sue Roberts; brothers-in-law, Bill Miller, Gary Seedorff, Les Nelson and Bernie Lees; sister in-law, Darlene Johnson; mother and father in-law, Don and Diane Sjoberg; and other relatives and friends.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by wife, Kris; their two goldendoodles, Zoey and Kramer; brother, Marvin (Mae); sisters, Elaine Miller, Marvel Seedorff, Shirley (Rich) Klepsa, Dar (Mark) Wicklund; brothers-in law, Todd (Barb), Tim (Liza), Mark (Becky), Pat (Kari); many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of great friends.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Paul Lutter officiating. Music was provided by Betty Smith. Live a good life. And in the end it’s not the years in a life, it’s the life in the years.
