Raymond Jerome Swenson died on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at his home in Ogilvie. He was 71 years old.

He was born in Minneapolis on July 4, 1948 to Gertrude and Woodrow Swenson. He grew up in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1967. After graduation he joined the army and was stationed in Vietnam for two years. When he returned home he worked as a machinist until 1982.  He became the primary caregiver to his parents in their later years. 

He enjoyed photography, wood carving and painting. He loved watching fireworks on his birthday every year at his brother, Larry’s, house. He also enjoyed playing with Larry’s dog, Layla.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Gertrude Swenson.

He is survived by his brothers, Jeff   Swenson, Andover, John Swenson, Columbia Heights and Larry Swenson, Milaca.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Dresser-Methven Funeral Home in Mora.   Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie with military honors being provided by the Ogilvie Honor Guard.
