Roxanne Lillian Carda died in the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019. Our sweet sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend joined her parents and loved ones in heaven.  She was 60 years old.

The third of three children, she was born on March 13, 1959, in Mora, to Lillian and Joseph Carda. Her early years were spent on the farm in Warman until her parents sold the farm and moved first to a home just outside of town and later to their home on Grove Street. She attended Mora public schools and graduated from Mora High School in 1977.

After her graduation and her mother’s retirement, she and her mother established Carda Daycare in their home. For 35 years, they loved, snuggled, rocked, fed, diapered, played with, read to, guided, potty trained and cherished the relationships of more little ones than we can count. When she wasn’t taking care of children, she loved to bake and she loved music.

When she and her mother retired from day care in 2012, they sold their home and moved to Woodcrest Manor. Shortly after her mother died, her health forced her to move to assisted living. While at St. Clare, she touched many hearts and made new friends whom she cherished.

When asked about her favorite memories, she was quick to respond, “I loved growing up on the farm. I loved holding sleeping babies. I loved being with Mom full time.” Given these simple pleasures, one can easily imagine what she is doing right this minute as she smiles down on us from heaven.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lillian; her nephew, Adam; many aunts, uncles and friends.

She is survived by brothers, Richard (Susan) of Arden Hills, Warren (Judy) of Mora; nephews, Alan (Kathy), Brian (close friend, Angela), Chad (Alison); niece, Anne (Phil); great-nephews, Simon, Aleksander and Georgiy; great-nieces, Carolyn, Kathryn, Victoria, Hazel, Eleanor and Agnes.

We will all miss this gentle soul.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home.
