Shirley Marie Johnson of Mora, died on Monday, June 15, 2020, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. She was 82 years old.
She was born on March 28, 1938, at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis to Henry and Emma (Schmidt) Johnson. She grew up on the farm in North Branch, the oldest of three children and graduated from North Branch High School in 1956.
She was united in marriage to David Lantz on June 15, 1957, in North Branch. She worked as a bookkeeper for Koops Super Valu in Brooklyn Park for many years. She moved to Mora in 1994 and opened the Williams House Bed and Breakfast. She worked part time at Bread and Honey for many years.
She enjoyed playing scrabble, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She liked to cook and entertain; her favorite was to host tea parties. She put God first in her life; she loved her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and great-granddaughter, Arley Rose Knaup.
She is survived by daughters, Denise Lantz of Mora, Sarah (Jim) Charney of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; granddaughters, Stacy Lunzer of Shakopee, Christina Lunzer (David Hicks) of Isanti, Heather (Ryan) Knaup of Algoma, Wisconsin; great-granddaughters, Kylie and Avery Hicks and Ruby Knaup; sister, Lael (Bronson) Erickson of Rush City; brother, Leland (Marie) Johnson of North Branch; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Friday, June 19, 2020, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora with Pastor Michael Rue officiating. Music was provided by Kay Monson, Barb Seaton, Paulette Venhuizen and Katie Jacobs. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Kost Cemetery near North Branch. Memorials are preferred to Emmanuel Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were handled by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora.
