Celebrating city’s b-day with an ol’ fashion bash
Saturday’s day-long party will feature fun and games for all ages - including fireworks
Organizers hope the stand above, built by the Mora Lions and Nordstrom Construction, will be filled with more than 3,600 cup cakes this Saturday - making for a new world record.
The city of Mora will be celebrating its 126th birthday on Saturday, May 17, with a day-long party chock full of activities, games, demonstrations and contests.

A fly-in at the Mora Municipal Airport kicks the festivities off at 8 a.m. The fly-in will be highlighted by a ribbon cutting ceremony for the airport’s recently completed runway and taxiway, and the Mora Area Fire Department will host a pancake breakfast.

A potential world record may also be set on May 17, as organizers and volunteers will use an estimated 3,600 cupcakes to build what they hope will be the world’s largest cupcake cake. Construction of the cake will take place on Union Street and begin at 9 a.m. Residents interested in baking cupcakes for the creation are asked to call Annette at 679-2661.

Other events on the schedule include a downtown performance by “Bob and the Beachcombers” from 1 to 5 p.m., a petting zoo, a firefighter waterball fight and a car show at Lenny’s Service on Hwy. 65.
