Braham is hosting its first annual BBQ competition, Saturday, Aug. 2, showcasing the grilling abilities of cooks in the Braham area.

Competitors are invited to prepare chicken, pork, beef and seafood plus salad side dishes.

Contest judging occurs at 6 p.m. led by a team of judges under the expertise of Jasper Artis of Jasper’s BBQ Pit.

Competitors will set up early in the morning to cook on 2nd Street SW, and the public is invited after 11 a.m. to purchase “taste tickets” that will get them samples from various cooks.

Blues music begins at noon, sponsored by Braham Lumber and the Braham Firefighters Relief Association will host a beer garden in conjunction with the music in downtown Braham.

All this follows the pie eating from Braham Pie Day on Friday, Aug. 1. The goal of this event is to promote businesses in the Greater Braham area.
