Mora police arrested 41-year-old Mora resident Troy Pillen Sunday night after he was allegedly seen driving drunk down a local highway without headlights.
Officers, according to a complaint filed by prosecutors earlier this week, spotted Pillen around 10 p.m. Sunday night while he was allegedly traveling northbound on Hwy. 65 with no headlights on.
Police pulled Pillen over, and the strong odor of alcohol was subsequently detected. A field sobriety was conducted, which Pillen failed, and officers transported him to jail.
Pillen faces two charges in connection to the alleged incident.
I wonder if Rowland and tetnowski and others who say we shouldn't be concerned about A.Sjobergs Felonies defend this guy and if they don't or do--why.
Because once again strongest, you and I differ on the opinion that you think EVERYONE who commits an illegal act should do prison time, I maintain that that is mathmatically impossible. Do I think this man should spend the night in jail for driving under the influence? Of course I do. Do I think he should spend 10 years in prison and pay a huge fine(like you think Mr.Sjoberg should, according to your comments) of course not. You still don't ever want to talk about who you are going to let out to put a guy like Al Sjoberg in prison. The prison system is full. Do you want to let out a rapist? A child molester? So you can make room for a guy who made some footbal bets? People with your naive grasp of economics, are always blustering about locking everybody up (which would dramatically impact our income tax base no workers - no taxes) but then you don't want to pay more taxes either. You have this view of goverment that it produces something that can be sold, that it has some sort of cash flow other than your tax dollars, and when things aren't done as completly as you think they should be, you blame government mis-management(Or in your specific case you blame Hitler, Stalin, Marxist planks or some other craziness no one understands)) and you don't take into consideration things like budget short falls, and that for instance you can only buy so much law enforcement, or so many prisons with "x" amount of dollars. My only point has ever been that victimless crimes should take a back seat to crimes where people are being victimized, there lives possibly ruined by some predatory monster. I don't want one of these people paroled early so you can put a kid with a joint in his pocket, or a guy making some football bets, in his bunk.
