Ogilvie Girls Track and Field
Position: Track and field sprinter and jumper
Tell us about the sports and activities you are involved in: I am in volleyball, basketball and track and field. I am also involved in our school’s OWN IT! group, band, choir, theater and National Honor Society.
What is your favorite thing about being involved in sports?: I love being part of a team because you get to know more about your classmates and underclassmen and make new friends. They’re like my other family. I like the intensity in all of my sports and being able to celebrate accomplishments with my team.
Tell us about a person who has influenced you: My parents and Coach Lombard have been big influences in my life for school and sports. They always encourage me in all of my activities and my school work. They make sure I am doing well in school and help me when I need it. I am very grateful for all that they do for me.
What is the highlight of your athletic career?: The highlight of my athletic career is being subsection champs in basketball after 19 years. If we get to continue with track this year my goal is to make it to sections for jumping.
With spring practices and games suspended, how are you staying active?: Because track is suspended I still continue to go on walks with my family.
What are some of your goals for the future?: I would love to be able to go to sections and beat a school record in track this year, if we are able to participate. Another goal is to continue to do well in college and to keep my grades up.
From the coach: Brenda Lombard, head track coach for girls and boys nominated Annika Berg. Annika Berg, a senior, is one of our captains and has exceptional leadership skills. Her enthusiasm for the track season was beyond the moon. She is still motivating the other track athletes to stay active. Way to go, Annika!
