From the coach: This was going to be a very interesting season for Mora track and field. Our girl’s and boy’s teams in some ways were the complete opposites and, in some ways, very similar.
Our girls team returned a lot of experience. Mora girls had 15 seniors on this year’s team. It was a very talented group. We returned a lot of experience and girls that had a lot of success! Taytum Klink returned after qualifying for the State Meet in the 100m dash and as a member of the 4x200m relay that finished seventh. Seniors Johanna Schwinghamer and Trinity Rittenour also returned from the State 4x200m relay! The girls also had a lot of depth in the relays and throws and were ready to make some noise in the Granite Ridge.
The boys’ team like the girls’ was going to be very talented. The boys however were going to be pretty inexperienced. The boys only had three seniors. Cooper Lennox returned after being a member of the 4x800m relay team that took fourth at State last season. Senior Nolan Berry returned as a leader for our throwers. Junior Kobe Swanson also returned after an eighth place and Jeff Lilienthal returned after gaining State Meet experience in the relay. The boys team numbers come from a large junior class. Many of them were coming out for the first time and were ready to show their speed and athleticism.
