Mora stayed undefeated by defeating Crosby-Ironton Friday night, Sept. 27, 47-19. The win allowed Mora to take sole possession of first place in the Northeast Blue District and keep pace with Annandale in the section. Mora trailed after the first quarter 7-0. The Mustangs scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to seize control of the game. Mora racked up 421 yards of offense with 379 of that on the ground.
Head Coach Troy Erickson’s comments: “We played a very physical team that came out hot early against us. We wore them down and took over from the second quarter on. Our kids never get down and stay the course. We do have to find a way to come out faster in games as eventually we’ll run into an opponent that we can’t do that to.”
Up next: It’s homecoming week in Mora. The Mustangs will be hosting Moose Lake – Willow River at 7:00 p.m on Friday, Oct. 4. The Rebels come in with a record of 4-1. They suffered their first defeat last Friday night at the hands of Esko by a score of 20-18. MLWR has only allowed 37 points through their first five games.
