Allen August Ziesmer, of Ogilvie, died on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021, at the Mille Lacs Health Care System in Onamia. He was 85 years old.

He was born on April 25, 1936, in McGrath, to parents, August and Ruth (Nelson) Ziesmer. He grew up in McGrath and later worked in the Twin Cities where he began his career as a heavy equipment operator with the 49ers Union. He worked for McNamara and Vivant Construction for many years before taking a job closer to home with Kanabec County Highway Department.

In 1962, he was united in marriage to Annetta Reese. They were blessed with one son, Fred. While working in construction, he also farmed beef cattle and crops on their farm in Brook Park with his beloved John Deere tractors. His wife passed away from cancer in 1978.

He was united in marriage to Agnes (DeJong) Robyn in 1980 and welcomed her four sons to the family. In the mid 90’s the couple moved to a farm near Ogilvie where he spent his final years. He served on the Ann Lake Township board for many years and was an active member of his church and community.

He was avid outdoorsman. His favorite day of the year was deer hunting opener, and he loved spending time in the woods. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, cutting wood and trapping. He and his wife took many fishing trips to Canada. He loved all things western from boots to hats and especially watching western movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Annetta; siblings, Luella Oestrich, Augie Ziesmer, Joyce Tyler and Alice Grogan; grandchildren, Alyssa, Tanya and Ryan Robyn.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes; son, Fred (Marsie); stepsons, Neal (Kay) Robyn, Silas Robyn, Jim Robyn and Byron (Denise) Robyn; grandchildren, Derek, Brianna, Matthew, Andrew, Ramanda, Renita, Dexter, Carly, Melissa, Lisa, Danny, Troy and Ashley; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Westling, Char Olson and Althea Ziesmer; many other relatives and dear friends.

A private graveside service was held at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating.
