Carolyn Mary Fischer, of Ogilvie, died on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at Eastwood Senior Living in Mora. She was 84 years old.
She was born on April 2, 1937, in Onamia, to Daniel and Clara (Schaak) Van Risseghem. She graduated from Onamia High School in 1955. On Sept. 8, 1956, she was united in marriage to Jerry Fischer in Onamia. They lived in Onamia, Blaine, Andover and in 1999 they moved to Ogilvie. The couple loved going to the cabin in Grand Rapids, and spending their winters in Alamo, Texas.
She was a devoted mom and grandma and loved spending time with her family. She loved gardening, baking and crafting. She enjoyed fishing, singing in the church choir and was an avid cribbage player. She spent a lot of her free time watching and feeding the birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Clara Van Risseghem; son, Kevin Fischer; sister, Delores “Betty” Anderson; brother, Donald Van Risseghem; and great-granddaughter, Lainey Buhman.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry Fischer; children, Stephen (Barb) Fischer, Mark (Kathy) Fischer, Debra (Kirk) Coughlin, David (Heshie Zinman) Fischer, Tim (Doreen) Fischer and Lynne (Donnie) Ogg; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Dan (Linda) Van Risseghem and Greg Van Risseghem.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mora, with Father Derek Wiechmann officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Casket bearers will be Cassie Keller, Laura Smith, Dalton Ogg, Christeen Hennes, Brian Pfoser and Keely Buhman. Burial will take place following the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Mora, Minnesota.
