Evelyn Angeline Gorton of Mora, died at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021. She was 91 years old.
She was born in Fargo, North Dakota on May 8, 1930, to Louis and Alice (Wellington) Probst. They lived in Alice, North Dakota before moving with her family to Brainerd in 1939. She was united in marriage to Darrel Gorton on June 3, 1948. Together, they dairy farmed, harvested wild rice, enjoyed fishing, preparing lutefisk and lefse for the family and spending time with each other, family and friends.
Her husband passed away in 1998, and she spent most of her remaining years at the Dala House in Mora, where her hobbies included sewing and baking English muffin bread. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Louis Probst; husband, Darrel Gorton; sons, Lanny and Donald.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Amei), Douglas (Liz), Dean (Trudi); sisters, Ruth VanKeuren, Grace Smolik, Shirley Cleveland and Barbara Seaman; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Anthony Cloose officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
