Nikodym

Marilyn Jeanne Nikodym, of Mora, died on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at her home. She was 72 years old.

She was born on Feb. 9, 1949, in Minneapolis, to Robert and Alina (Marquardt) Lorensen. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1971. It is there that she met her husband, Greg Nikodym. They were united in marriage on Aug. 21, 1971. Before moving to Mora in 1982, they lived in Belleville, Illinois, West St. Paul and Cottage Grove.

She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who raised three amazing children, Matthew, Brianna and Barrett.

While raising a family, she worked at several jobs, but her favorite was the library assistant at the Mora branch of the East Central Regional Library. There she could share her love of reading with anyone looking for a good book.

Whenever possible, she loved to travel. She enjoyed cruises and road trips with her husband and family, and was especially fond of Disney World which she visited many times.

Another of her interests was scrapbooking which she did daily. She made beautiful photo albums for each of her children and grandchildren. She was always excited and looked forward to her retreats with her scrapbooking friends.

Her other hobbies included cross stitch, mini golf, and playing games with family and friends. She always enjoyed an evening of pinochle with cousin Phil and his wife, Sylvia. She enjoyed decorating for any holiday and was always happy when the Christmas lights went up.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Einer and Alina Hulda (Marquardt) Lorensen.

She is survived by her husband, Greg; sons, Matthew (Leah) and Barrett; daughter, Brianna (Nathan); grandchildren, Cayce, Laila, Adalyn, Cole, Blake, Abby, Nathan Jr., Justin and Evelynn; brothers, Alan, Mark (Geri), Roland (Jennie), Keith (Debbie) and Kevin (Patti) Lorensen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
