Robert “Bob” Heald, of Ogilvie, died on Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at home surrounded by his loved ones, after a six and a half year battle with colorectal cancer. He was 65 years old.

He was born on Aug. 27, 1956 to Dean and Delores Heald. He was a 1974 graduate of Ogilvie High School where he played on the football team. After graduation he worked in construction and then joined his dad and brothers to work full time on the family dairy farm. In August 1995, he went to work for Schlagel, Inc, where he worked until the time of his death.

In July of 1979 his son, Troy was born. In March of 1985 he met his wife, Carrie, together they had two daughters, Miranda in July of 1986 and Makayla in March of 1993.

In 2003 he designed and built his family home. In February 2016 his grandson, William, was born, giving him the best title, Papa. Five months later, in July 2016 his first granddaughter, Kingsley was born and two years later, in June 2018, he welcomed another granddaughter, Austyn. His grandkids were his reason to fight.

In his younger years he had a love for trapping and coon hunting. He enjoyed ice fishing trips with his buddies to Lake of the Woods every New Year’s Eve as well as snowmobiling and fishing trips in Canada. He took the family on many fishing and camping trips to Portsmouth, Bad Medicine, Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. He enjoyed working on his food plots, bow hunting, shooting guns, spending time with his dog, giving his grandkids rides on the ranger and enjoying the wildlife from his deck.

He was a jack of all trades, and when he put his mind to something, he made it happen. He wanted to leave something for his family to enjoy, so he began building a cabin. Watching his family, friends and the community come together to build his dream, right up until his last moments, brought so much comfort and while he will not be able to enjoy this cabin physically, it is a place they will have to continue to honor and remember him as they make many memories there.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Delores Heald; his “pupper dog” Jazzy; brothers, Tom and Gary; cousins, Jeff Pierson, Doug Heald and  Jason Heald; sister-in-law, DeDe Heald; and mother-in-law, Judy Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie; son, Troy; daughters, Miranda (Eric) and Makayla; grandkids, William, Kingsley and Austyn; nephews, Shane (Kelly) and Dusty (Dawn); niece, Lacee (Kevin); aunt, Diane; cousins, Steve (Gail), Rick (Chris), Mark (Coral), Brenda (Dan);  many other family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at the Firepit Bar and Grill (formerly known as Pink Diamond). In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the family. Arrangements were made by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora. Condolences may be posted at www.aifuneralhome.com.
