SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Approved minutes - Monday – September 27, 2021

6:00 p.m.

Ogilvie Board Room

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Board Members present: Hickerson, Heins, Koenings, Peterson, Smith and Gunderson

Board Member absent: None

Also present:  Superintendent Belsheim, Becky Meyman and Cory Shroeder.

Chair Hickerson called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and welcomed everyone. 

Member Smith moved to approve the agenda as presented. Discussion followed. Motion seconded by Member Koenings. Motion prevailed unanimously.

Open Forum: No one addressed the open forum.

Reports: Reports were provided by: Superintendent Belsheim and Member Gunderson. Administrative reports found on school website.

Becky Meyamn:  On behalf of the transportation department. Desperate need for drivers for activities, buses, and vans.

CONSENT AGENDA:

Member Gunderson moved to approve the consent agenda as presented:

Approval of Minutes: August 23, 2021 School Board Regular Meeting, September 13, 2021 School Board Meeting

Personnel for 2021-2022 School Year: Amy Bestick - Paraeducator – 8hrs/day, Amanda Kaminsky – Paraeducator – 8hrs/day.

Member Smith moved to approve Revised Work Assignments for 2021-2022 School Year:

Darilyn Stulc – Paraeducator – revised contract 30hrs/week, Carrie Heald – Food Service – additional 4.5 hrs/day (Covid-Summer Food Program), Logan LaBeau – Maintenance – additional 8 hrs/week (Covid) Collin Ten Bruin – Maintenance – additional 5 hrs/student contact days (Covid). Motion seconded by Member Heins. Motion prevailed unanimously.

ACTION ITEMS:

Member Heins moved to approve the September claims paid in the amount of $1,520,763.30

Discussion followed. Motion seconded by Member Gunderson. Motion prevailed unanimously by roll call vote.

Member Smith moved to approve Levy Certification – 2021 Payable 2022 in the amount of $969,745.25

Motion seconded by Member Peterson. Motion prevailed unanimously by roll call vote.

Member Koenings introduced the resolution to approve Flex 125 District Plan Resolution Motion seconded by Member Heins. Motion prevailed unanimously.

Member Gunderson moved to approve the Election Judge Compensation at $15 per hour.  Motion seconded by member Koenings. Motion prevailed unanimously.

Member Peterson moved to approve Maximum Number of Ogilvie Athletic Competitions Motion seconded by Member Heins. Motion prevailed unanimously.

Member Heins moved to approve Enrollment Numbers of 503 students. Motion seconded by Member Gunderson. Motion prevailed unanimously.

Member Gunderson moved to approve Nepotism (Policy #426) Amendment chart. Motion seconded by Member Koenings. Motion prevailed unanimously. 

Member Heins moved to approve Activities Director Job Description Motion seconded by Member Gunderson. Motion prevailed unanimously.

Member Gunderson moved to accept Donations with our gratitude:

Ogilvie Lions Club: $600 for Gun Safety Training; Neighborhood National Bank of Mora: Luncheon for Staff and Student School Supplies, First Citizens Bank of Mora: Luncheon for Staff and Student School Supplies, additional anonymous donor of School Supplies, Welia: Student School Supplies, Joann Golly: Student School Supplies, Connie Osterhuis: 1950 Ogilvie Yearbook. For Girls Softball Florida Trip: Jensen Andersen Co. ($100); Quality Disposal Systems, Inc. ($500); Ultra Plumbing Services LLC ($200); Dan Johnson, State Farm Ins. ($25); Federated Co-ops, Inc.($250); Milaca Family Dental ($50); Thomas Sno Sports, Inc. ($1,200); Beaudry Oil & Propane ($100); Barnick Agency ($50); Milaca Motors ($250) and Northland Auto Center ($200). Motion seconded by Member Peterson. Motion prevailed unanimously.

NON-ACTION ITEMS:

Policy #416 Drug and Alcohol Testing – 2nd Reading

COVID Update - 1 employee & 1 student currently positive.

Other: MSBA advocacy tour, Lions Club interest in construction for an outdoor basketball court, Junior class school board member.  Covid advisory meeting schedule as needed. ARP & ESSER 3 application due October 1st. One more effort with Sara Miller at MDE to get the roof completed under Health and Safety. 20% off funds must be used for learning loss.  

Member Koenings moved to adjourn at 7:04 p.m.  Member Peterson seconded. Motion prevailed unanimously.
