Eighth grader Anja Bakke gets her arm raised as she picks up her first career victory in Bemidji.Â
The girls wrestling team traveled to Bemidji for their second tournament of the year. It was a 17-team tournament that was run through Trackwrestling and team points were kept. Leading all teams was the home team, Bemidji, as they collected 199 points, but Mora worked hard to earn a second place finish with 108 points, followed by Wadena-Deer Creek with 73.Â
Violet Peterson and Lindsey Nosbush brought home firsts (Nosbush tied for first in a 3-way tie) in their weight class.
Peterson may have had a jolt of adrenaline as Mora 2022 grad and Private First Class Autumn Peterson surprised her sister after five months of basic combat training. Autumn also wrestled her junior year.Â
Next up for Mora wrestling: All Mora wrestlers (boys and girls) will be traveling to Fargo for the Rumble on the Red on Dec. 28.
