For the first time in 20 days the Mustangs were back on the field at Pine City. The game would also mark the end of the regular season with section playoffs looming. Statistically the game was pretty even as Mora had 251 yards of total offense and Pine City had 255 yards of total offense.

With the game tied, Mora took the lead in the third quarter on a Connor Gmahl 65-yard touchdown run. Pine City immediately answered on the following drive and converted the two-point conversion to take a 14-12 lead.

The big difference maker in the game was in the fourth quarter. Mora fumbled the ball, and it was picked up and ran back for a touchdown by the Dragons. Another two-point conversion was converted making the final score 22-12.

Mora will now enter section playoffs as the No. 7 seed. They will have already played the game when this edition of the Times prints as it is Tuesday, Oct. 26 at No. 2 seeded Spectrum. If Mora can pull the upset, they would play again at 2 p.m.on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the winner of the Pine City-Foley game.

Coaches quote from head coach Troy Erickson: “I thought we had the offense running well. We lost the turnover battle and of course they got the big one returned for a touchdown.  We started the second half the way we wanted as we forced a three and out and then scored a touchdown to take the lead. We could have really used another three and out, but Pine City answered our score with a touchdown of their own to re-take the lead. The team is excited for the playoffs to begin. There has been no give up with our young team, and they’re ready to take the experience they’ve gained in the regular season into the playoffs.”
