Looking for their first win of the season, the Mustangs football team came up short on the road falling to Two Harbors 32-6 on Sept. 24. The Mustangs struggled to slow up the Agates rushing attack as all of Two Harbor’s 364 yards came on the ground. Mora got a little bit going on the ground as Connor Gmahl went for 105 yards and a touchdown. But, beyond that the Mustangs couldn’t get anything else going.

Head Coach Troy Erickson:  “Other than a couple of turnovers we really couldn’t stop them. We scored in the second quarter and forced a turnover from them on the subsequent drive, so we had momentum going into halftime.

We got the opening kickoff and started moving the ball, but we turned it over and our momentum was gone. We moved the ball well on the ground, but fumbled snaps slowed our drives down. We just couldn’t keep the pressure on them.

We’re a little dinged up but, we believe it should be a very competitive homecoming game against Hibbing.”

Up next:

It’s homecoming week in Mora and the Mustangs will be looking for their first win of the season as they host Hibbing at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1. Hibbing enters the game with a 1-3 record and are coming off of a 43-0 loss to Grand Rapids.
