Head Coach Troy Erickson: “We had a lot of typical first game mistakes. That’s to be expected. We’re a younger team with some inexperience at the varsity level. It didn’t help that last year we only had five games and no JV schedule. We couldn’t generate the explosive plays on offense that we’re accustomed to. We had the ball in the red zone a couple of times in the first half and just couldn’t punch it in to flip the momentum of the game. We’ll have our hands full against a solid Esko program. It’s a typical Esko squad with good speed and size. It should be a fun night being the home opener and inducting four new members to the Mustang Hall of Fame.”
Up next: Mora’s home opener is at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, when the Mustangs will host Esko. Esko is coming off a 37-0 victory over Duluth Denfeld. It is also hall of fame induction night at Bergloff-Deis Field.
